Drawing Tools

Flight planning tools drone assist

To make your flight planning experience as easy as possible, we offer different types of drawing tools to plan your flights. You can choose from:

  • A simple radius

  • Polygon

  • Upload a previously built KML file.

These options are available when you select Create Flight Plan in the app.

For the Fly Now option, designed for a quick flight plan, you will only be able to use the 'radius' drawing tool.

Cut Airspace

When planning operations near approval zones, you can ask the app to cut any intersecting approval zone from your flight plan.  This is found under the 'Approvals tab' in the app, where you will be able to automatically redraw the plan to remove any section crossing the approval zone.

If you want to continue with your original plan, you can submit a digital approval request for authorisation through the Drone Assist app. If the flight plan intersects with a 'UTM Zone' with digital authorisations available, you will see a green box underneath indicating this is a UTM enabled zone.

When operating within Restricted or Approval Zones, users will encounter additional flight plan requirements. In these instances, users will need to choose from the available approval services provided. This may involve submitting supporting documents for the flight plan.

Within the app, users can upload scanned documents, select photos from their library, or upload documents directly from their device.
