Introducing and the new Community Hub

The year 2017 marks the start of what is set to be an even more important year for the drone industry, and for Altitude Angel, as we begin releasing much of the important research and technologies we have been busy working on over the past year.

Today, we are very excited to introduce the public preview of, our brand new drone safety map, built using the all-new soon-to-be-released Altitude Angel Javascript SDK.

In addition to incorporating some substantial changes based on user feedback from  our existing Safety Map, we’ve also incorporated some features we just know you’re going to love!

And, by releasing it in preview, we’re inviting you to help us perfect it: share your feedback, suggestions, feature requests and join the preview discussion on our new Community Hub.

First, let’s take a look at the headline differences between our current (released) version and the new preview version:

There’s now no need for any logins or accounts to access any of our data! From the very first page load, all our data is right there; available for anyone to see, interact with and utilise without the need to sign-in.

We think this is a positive leap forwards in the provision of essential safety data to the masses and while, for the majority of people, creating an account wasn’t a problem, we have been busy analysing how people interact with our maps and as part of our plan to continually review and improve our products, we decided to ‘defer’ asking people to log-in until we actually needed you to (for example, when you wish to file a Flight Report).

We think our existing Safety Map is pretty fast, but we’ve taken things a step further and released some pretty major enhancements that mean the preview loads much more quickly and general scrolling performance is much faster. This means that the experience of using the map is  ‘snappier’, and you can get your job done much quicker. Excellent!

We’re able to make such impressive improvements because we built our entire software stack end-to-end, including our data storage mechanisms, and our front-end SDK. This means we can bring you real-time data for the entire world with sub-second performance times. Perfect whether you just want to browse, or embed our maps into your products.

Many of you have been asking us when you can get an embeddable map of your own, or when we’ll release an SDK that you can use to integrate all the powerful features of Altitude Angel’s GuardianUTM platform into your own products and solutions.

Well, today, we’re pleased to tell you that the new is powered by the forthcoming Altitude Angel Embed SDK. You’ll be able to get your hands on it in early Q2 2017, once we’ve collected some telemetry on its performance as part of the preview.

Stay tuned for announcements on this shortly, or subscribe to the Developer Channel on the Community Hub.

We’ve always listened to your feedback and are always looking for ways we can better engage with our users. That’s why, today, we’re officially opening our Community Hub, which should make it easier for many of our community experts and ambassadors to help others, as well as for us to engage with our increasingly active community.

This is particularly important as we begin to release our developer technologies to the masses, and we welcome all your feedback, thoughts, suggestions on ways we can better serve all your drone requirements.

To get started and join the community, head over to the Altitude Angel Community Hub.

To get you started, we’ve put the full release notes for version 0.1 of up on the Community Hub.
